More pee news There was almost no blood in his urine today (the vet needed one of those dipsticks to find it at all) and the amount of proteins in there is a lot lower, too. His blood pressure is down as well. I have to continue with his medication some more until it's all clear, but that's no problem, he eats the pills without any trouble as long as I wrap them in a bit of cheese. So I'm really, really happy about that.
I hope the good health will infect Joepie as well. He's got a lot of tartar on his teeth and inflamed gums, so he has to be treated for that. This means he'll have to be sedated, which is never safe for a cat who is a few days shy of eighteen, has bad kidneys and a heart murmur. Normally only one vet would do the honors, but because of all this there'll be two of them, one to fix the teeth and the other to keep an eye on his vital signs. Fortunately, I'll be allowed to stay there as well. I hate sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring. At least if I'm in the room with him, I can see all the time that he's still breathing. Besides, I love to see vets at work. It annoys me no end that Animal Planet and Discovery will no longer show what vets are doing when they operate on animals like they used to.
Anyway, he'll be going in on Thursday, 11.00 hours. Keep something crossed for him, would you?

| | Are you getting used to referring to him as "him"? Not really, whenever I write about him I often have to go over the posting again and replace most of the gender specific stuff. It's Joepie who's going to be at the vet tomorrow. Mogley is "only" thirteen years old and his heart is still fine. Good luck to Joepie too! The icon confused me. I will be keeping all my fingers crossed for you all (which means my typing will go to hell, but in a good cause :) Thanks, it's muchly appreciated. That's great news about Mogley! I hope everything goes well for Joepie too. At least anaesthetics are a lot better these days, and they recover from them a lot faster. Keeping a mental picture of crossed digits for both of your cats in my head (I need my physical fingers for other things just now, sorry). (That was meant to be a reply on its own, not a response to vilakin's post. Sorry, Nico.) That's okay, it's always the thought that counts. |
